Discover the Power of Basic Goodness

Do you feel that you are not good enough for others? Do you feel like everything that goes wrong in your life is somehow your fault? Some say that these negative feelings and thoughts come from the expectations that you put on yourself. There is so much pressure to do good and be good, and that can be overwhelming. 

Even healthy minds may sometimes feel like they are not good enough to succeed, or that they are not good enough to be loved. Even though these feelings can hurt you, they can also hurt others. 

How you handle love and the chaotic emotions that come with it can make or break a relationship or friendship. For example, when you choose to dwell on the feeling of not being enough for the person you love, then you will end up hurting yourself and that person. You will make them feel bad for not loving you enough, and if you end up harming yourself, it will hurt them even more. 

When you believe that you are not good enough, or don’t believe in your innate inner goodness, you end up dealing with a lot of fear and anxiety. You may feel like nothing is going right in your life, and stress may plague your mind. You think that when everything around you collapses, you won’t be able to handle it, or that you may even be to blame for it. This stress and belief system manifests in social anxiety. 

Is there any way we can move past these feelings?

Can people be at peace with who they are?

The Basic Goodness In People

According to the teachings of Buddhism, every person has goodness in their core. Everyone is born with a heart that seeks to improve its fundamental nature. Whether or not you believe in Buddhism, learning that you have a purpose and that you bring light into the world will improve not only your mood but also your life. When you study Buddhism, you will learn that no matter how bad you feel right now, you are good for the world. 

Even the basic nature of a person, the primordial, is connected to the purest experience of everything around them. It is natural for people to want to do good and to be good. 

However, is a person always good? Not everyone is, but the basics of goodness are still present. No matter how chaotic their lives may be or how bad their decisions in life are, there is some goodness in them. The same is true for you. No matter how confused you may be feeling right now or how disappointed you are of yourself, there is always a part of you that is good. 

Release Yourself From Having to Prove Yourself

Something that you need to understand is that you don’t ever need to prove yourself to anyone. After all, you are your own person. You never have to worry if you are good enough. Free yourself from the burden of not being enough for others because you already are.

You can feel free right now. Know that from deep inside, there is some goodness in your heart. There is that sensation in your chest when you think that you are doing the best you can. This feeling is the reminder that you should love yourself more, no matter what people say. If you choose to listen to what others have to say, you will end up blind of what is truly good from deep inside. 

The answer is here and now. Wake up to that goodness in your heart. Live with it and trust the process. 

Meditating To Achieve Inner Goodness

What is the first thing you should do to tap into your inner goodness? No matter what state you are in your life right now, getting the right meditation training will help you unlock your inner strength. 

This is not the physical kind of strength. Instead, it is a certain kind of mind transformation that will help you realize who you can really be. The beginning may be challenging, but we promise that a consistent meditation practice benefits you in the long run.

How To Meditate

  • Start by taking a seat. You may choose to close your eyes. Become aware of your environment, the smells, sounds, maybe tastes. Take in all that your body tells you, including the pain and pressure. The stress you’ve been dealing with within the last few months has taken its toll on you. Feel it so that you can deal with it later.
  • Stop and take notice of your breathing. Allow yourself to be curious about your breath and the world you’ve been breathing. Take in the freshness and breathe out joy into the world. If this sounds strange, know that it will get easier. There is always a first time for everything. 
  • Once you have inhaled this positivity, apply it to how you look into your life. The pain, sadness, and stress that the world has brought upon you should be dealt with in this way. Start to look into yourself and recognize your inner goodness despite your flaws. Know that you are not your stresses or your anxieties
  • With this new, fresh, honest, and unconstrained outlook, explore the myriad of possibilities of what you can be. The sky is your limit, and your goodness is your only fuel. 
  • Apply the same view of yourself into your imagination. Learn to trust yourself and allow the essential goodness of your heart to do the work. Not only will you able to accomplish your aspirations, but you will discover that the goodness within you allows you to be brave enough to face the world. 

The basic goodness that people have in them is what truly makes them a unique person. When they use it to make this world a better place, that is when they become genuinely beautiful human beings. Allow that goodness inside of you to work to your advantage. When you do, you’ll genuinely enjoy life even more.
